Power Rankings

As players head to Berlin to represent their respective countries in the FIBA World Cup, the WNBA season begins a 16-day pause through Sept. 16.
The break offers a chance to take a snapshot of the standings before the regular season resumes on Sept. 17, with the final week of play determining playoff seeding.
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">All teams have played a total of 40 games — 20 at home and 20 on the road.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">All teams have four games remaining — two each at home and on the road.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">The eight playoff teams have been determined: Minnesota, Golden State, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Indiana, New York, Washington, and Dallas.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">The seven draft lottery teams are set: Portland, Chicago, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Toronto, Connecticut, and Seattle.</li>
</ul>
When it comes to playoff seeding, there are multiple races to be decided in the final week of the season:
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Which team will earn the No. 1 overall seed?</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Which four teams will secure home-court advantage in the first round?</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Which teams will avoid the No. 8 seed and first-round matchup with No. 1?</li>
</ul>
We’ll dive into each of these questions as we break down how the teams stack up entering the FIBA break.

With losses at Golden State and Atlanta, the Lynx dropped consecutive games for only the second time all season, and the first time since July 3-6. Despite the back-to-back defeats, the Lynx still hold a two-game lead over the Valkyries (and the head-to-head tiebreaker), which keeps Minnesota in the driver’s seat for the No. 1 overall seed. Meanwhile, on the historic front, Olivia Miles (749) passed Lynx legend Seimone Augustus (744 in 2006) for the second-most total points scored by a rookie in WNBA history, trailing only Caitlin Clark (769 in 2024).

<h2>2. Golden State Valkyries (29-11) ↔️</h2>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Last Week: 2</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Remaining Schedule: Sept. 18 vs. POR, Sept. 19 vs. SEA, Sept. 22 at POR, Sept. 24 at LAS</li>
</ul>
For the fourth time this season, the Valkyries followed consecutive losses with a win streak of at least four games, winning their final four contests (all on the road) entering the FIBA break. That streak included Golden State’s first-ever win over Minnesota after the Lynx won the first nine meetings between the regular season and playoffs since the Valkyries joined the league in 2025. That victory trimmed Minnesota’s lead for the top seed to two games with four to play. However, because Minnesota holds the head-to-head tiebreaker, Golden State must finish with a better record to take No. 1. Simultaneously, the Valkyries must fend off Las Vegas for the No. 2 seed. Golden State holds a two-game cushion, but the Aces own the tiebreaker.
<hr />
<h2>3. Las Vegas Aces (27-13) ⬆️</h2>
<ul>

<li style="font-weight: 400">Remaining Schedule: Sept. 17 at SEA, Sept. 20 vs. SEA, Sept. 22 vs. LAS, Sept. 24 at PHX</li>
</ul>
The Aces defeated the Tempo on Friday in their lone game of the week and their first since losing NaLyssa Smith for the season with a leg injury. Smith averaged 11.7 points on 63.8% shooting, with 6.4 rebounds across 38 games. The Aces signed 6-foot-7 center Kalani Brown on Saturday to help fill that void, with her debut coming after a busy FIBA World Cup break for the Aces, who will have four players participating in the tournament — Chelsea Gray and Jackie Young for the United States, Mai Yamamoto for Japan and Stephanie Talbot for Australia. When the season resumes, Vegas will make a final push for the No. 2 seed as the Aces have the easiest remaining schedule among all teams.
<hr />
<h2>4. Indiana Fever (26-14) ⬇️</h2>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Last Week: 3</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Remaining Schedule: Sept. 18 at TOR, Sept. 20 vs. WAS, Sept. 22 vs. MIN, Sept. 24 at MIN</li>
</ul>
Conversely, the Fever face the second-toughest remaining schedule after the break, with three of their final four games coming against playoff teams. Indy enters the FIBA break, which will see Clark and Aliyah Boston representing the United States, having won seven of their last nine games as the Fever make a run for home-court advantage in the opening round. Indy currently sits No. 5 as Atlanta holds the head-to-head tiebreaker between the 26-14 teams. On a historic note, this past week saw Clark become the first player in WNBA history to post back-to-back games with 30+ points and 10+ assists, as well as Kelsey Mitchell becoming only the second player in league history to score at least 1,000 total points in a season, joining A’ja Wilson in 2024. Mitchell (career-high 25.0 ppg) trails only Wilson (26.0 ppg) in the scoring title race.

<h2>5. Atlanta Dream (26-14) ↔️</h2>

<li style="font-weight: 400">Remaining Schedule: Sept. 17 vs. CON, Sept. 19 vs. CHI, Sept. 21 at NYL, Sept. 23 at NYL</li>
</ul>
The Dream enter the FIBA break on a high note after knocking off the league-leading Lynx at home for their fourth win in five games. The night marked the Dream debut of DeWanna Bonner, who signed with Atlanta following a contract buyout in Phoenix after the Mercury were eliminated from playoff contention. The game also featured Angel Reese’s 29th double-double, setting a new WNBA single-season record, as well as Rhyne Howard’s 128th 3-pointer of the season, tying the single-season record set by Sabrina Ionescu in 2023. Howard can break that mark once the season resumes, with the Dream facing Ionescu and the Liberty in their final two games of the season, both of which could be critical in the playoff seeding race.

<h2>6. Dallas Wings (24-16) ⬆️</h2>

<li style="font-weight: 400">Remaining Schedule: Sept. 17 vs. LAS, Sept. 19 vs. PHX, Sept. 21 at PHX, Sept. 23 at SEA</li>
</ul>
After going just 2-7 coming out of the All-Star break to fall to eighth place in the league, Dallas has won four straight to create a three-way tie with New York and Washington at 24-16 for the Nos. 6-8 seeds in the playoff race. This is another space to discuss the importance of tiebreakers:
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Dallas holds tiebreaker over New York</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Washington holds tiebreaker over Dallas</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">New York holds tiebreaker over Washington</li>
</ul>
Should all three teams finish tied, the secondary tiebreaker will come into play: record against teams .500 or better. Currently, New York holds that mark (11-10), with Washington just behind (11-11) and Dallas well behind (8-15). With tiebreakers not on their side, the Wings need to keep winning if they want to climb the standings. Something in their favor: Dallas has the second-easiest remaining schedule among all teams and faces no playoff teams the remainder of the season.
<hr />
<h2>7. New York Liberty (24-16) ⬇️</h2>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Last Week: 6</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Remaining Schedule: Sept. 18 at MIN, Sept. 20 at TOR, Sept. 21 vs. ATL, Sept. 23 vs. ATL</li>
</ul>
The word “break” does not really apply to the Liberty, as New York features a league-high six players suiting up in the FIBA World Cup. The Liberty enter the World Cup pause having won four of their last six games, putting themselves in a three-way battle with Dallas and Washington as they look for separation in the standings. However, of those three teams, New York faces the toughest remaining schedule with three of its final four games coming against playoff-bound teams.
<hr />
<h2>8. Washington Mystics (24-16) ⬇️</h2>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Last Week: 7</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Remaining Schedule: Sept. 17 at CHI, Sept. 20 at IND, Sept. 22 vs. CON, Sept. 24 vs. CHI</li>
</ul>
While Friday’s loss to Los Angeles snapped a three-game win streak, the Mystics have still won five of their last seven games entering the World Cup break. Once the season resumes, they close out the regular season with three lottery-bound teams and one showdown with the Indiana Fever — a rubber match in Indy after exactly two points decided both of the first two meetings.
<hr />
<h2>9. Portland Fire (16-24) ⬆️</h2>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Last Week: 10</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Remaining Schedule: Sept. 17 vs. PHX, Sept. 18 at GSV, Sept. 20 at LAS, Sept. 22 vs. GSV</li>
</ul>
With a 96-78 loss to Dallas last Tuesday, the Fire were officially eliminated from playoff contention in their first WNBA season in 24 years. Overall, the Fire have dropped four of their last five games entering the World Cup break, which will see four Portland players represented in the tournament, headlined by the Fire’s leading scorer, Carla Leite of France. Once the season resumes, the Fire have a chance to play spoiler as two of their final four games come against Golden State —  a team vying for the No. 1 seed in the postseason.
<hr />
<h2>10. Los Angeles Sparks (15-25) ⬆️</h2>

<li style="font-weight: 400">Remaining Schedule: Sept. 17 at DAL, Sept. 20 vs. POR, Sept. 22 at LVA, Sept. 24 vs. GSV</li>
</ul>
Similar to the Fire, the Sparks will have a chance to impact the playoff races once the season resumes following the World Cup break, as three of their final four games come against playoff-bound teams (Dallas, Las Vegas and Golden State). Los Angeles enters the break having won three of its last four games with Nneka Ogwumike (21.3 ppg, 10.8 rpg) leading the way in the final weeks of her legendary career. This past week, Ogwumike climbed to 10th on the all-time list for games played and fourth all-time in steals. She needs just 25 points to become the fourth player ever to score 8,000 career points, joining Diana Taurasi, Tina Charles and DeWanna Bonner.
<hr />
<h2>11. Chicago Sky (15-25) ⬇️</h2>
<ul>

<li style="font-weight: 400">Remaining Schedule: Sept. 17 vs. WAS, Sept. 19 at ATL, Sept. 22 vs. TOR, Sept. 24 at WAS</li>
</ul>
This past week, Courtney Vandersloot joined Sue Bird (3,234) as the only players in WNBA history with at least 3,000 career assists. However, those dimes came in three consecutive losses as the Sky have swung through three-game streaks over their last nine contests (three losses, three wins, three losses). When the season resumes, the Sky can play a role in breaking the three-way tie between the Mystics, Liberty and Wings as two of Chicago’s final four games come against Washington, including the regular-season finale.
<hr />
<h2>12. Phoenix Mercury (14-26) ⬇️</h2>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Last Week: 11</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Remaining Schedule: Sept. 17 at POR, Sept. 19 at DAL, Sept. 21 vs. DAL, Sept. 24 vs. LVA</li>
</ul>
Saturday’s win over Toronto snapped a four-game skid for the Mercury, who will miss the playoffs for only the second time in the last 14 years. With their postseason fate sealed, the Mercury waived two-time champion DeWanna Bonner, who has since signed with the playoff-bound Dream. Atlanta isn’t the only contender affected by Phoenix; the Mercury face Dallas twice and Las Vegas once in the final week — two teams in the middle of tightly contested playoff races.
<hr />
<h2>13. Seattle Storm (8-32) ↔️</h2>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Last Week: 13</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Remaining Schedule: Sept. 17 vs. LVA, Sept. 19 at GSV, Sept. 20 at LVA, Sept. 23 vs. DAL</li>
</ul>
No team faces a tougher schedule once the season resumes than the Storm, who will take on the Aces (twice), the Valkyries and the Wings to close out the regular season. This will also close out the debut seasons for Seattle rookies Flau&#8217;jae Johnson and Awa Fam. Johnson is on pace to finish second among rookies in scoring (14.1 ppg) and rebounding (4.8 rpg), first in steals (1.3 spg) and third in blocks (0.7 bpg), while Fam leads all rookies in rebounding (5.7 rpg) and blocks (0.8 bpg).
<hr />
<h2>14. Connecticut Sun (10-30) ↔️</h2>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Last Week: 14</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Remaining Schedule: Sept. 17 at ATL, Sept. 20 vs. MIN, Sept. 22 at WAS, Sept. 24 vs. TOR</li>
</ul>
Before Tuesday’s game against Chicago, the Sun honored former star Tina Charles, whom Connecticut drafted No. 1 overall in 2010 and who won league MVP for the Sun in 2012, as part of their “Sun Legends” celebration in their final WNBA season before relocating to Houston next year. The team has already recognized Jonquel Jones, Jasmine Thomas, Curt Miller and Alyssa Thomas, and will cap it off with former coach Mike Thibault on Sept. 20. After the Sun beat the Sky, they dropped three straight games to teams that have clinched playoff berths (Golden State, Indiana and Dallas) and will face three more in the final week of the regular season (Atlanta, Minnesota and Washington) before closing out the Connecticut Sun era at home against Toronto at Mohegan Sun on Sept. 24.
<hr />
<h2>15. Toronto Tempo (11-29) ↔️</h2>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Last Week: 15</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Remaining Schedule: Sept. 18 vs. IND, Sept. 20 vs. NYL, Sept. 22 at CHI, Sept. 24 at CON</li>
</ul>
The Tempo enter the World Cup break having lost four straight and 16 of their last 17 games, as injuries and overseas commitments have hit their roster. Britteny Sykes (foot) and Aneesah Morrow (knee) are already out for the remainder of the season, and Marina Mabrey (adductor) may join them once she is reevaluated in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, Nyara Sabally, Maria Conde and Julie Allemand were temporarily suspended this week to begin their World Cup responsibilities with their respective national teams. When the season resumes in September, keep an eye on matchups with Indiana and New York that could be important to the postseason races before Toronto closes its inaugural season with a final game in Connecticut.

2026 WNBA Power Rankings: Week 14

A lot can happen in a single week at this point in the season.
When Week 13 began on Monday, Aug. 17, two teams had clinched playoff berths (Minnesota and Las Vegas) and two teams had been eliminated (Seattle and Connecticut).
Now, just seven days later, all but one playoff berth has been clinched, and that can be locked up as early as Tuesday. Of course, there is still the race for the home-court advantage, as well as matchups to be determined as teams jockey for playoff position over the closing weeks of the season.
But as the league gets set for a 16-day pause at the end of this week in order to allow players to compete in the 2026 FIBA World Cup, the playoff picture they will return to is becoming more clear by the day.

With wins over Golden State and Washington last week, the Lynx have won six straight and 16 of their last 17 games. They have a chance to wrap up the No. 1 overall seed for the second straight year with another win over the Valkyries on Monday. When they met on Wednesday, Olivia Miles exited in the fourth quarter after rolling her ankle. However, the rookie was back on the court two days later to lead the Lynx over the Mystics while Minnesota rested Napheesa Collier after she helped Minnesota go 9-1 in her first 10 games of the season.

Golden State is coming off consecutive losses, and has Las Vegas, Atlanta and Indiana on its heels for the No. 2 spot behind Minnesota. As they enter a new week, can the Valkyries repeat a pattern we’ve seen from them since early June where two straight losses are followed by a win streak?
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">June 4-6: Two losses followed by four straight wins</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">June 19-21: Two losses followed by nine straight wins</li>

The Valkyries hit the road for four games this week, including stops in Minnesota and New York to face fellow playoff-bound teams.

Kelsey Mitchell (24.8 ppg, 2nd in WNBA) and Caitlin Clark (22.1 ppg, 3rd) continue to be the best scoring duo in the league. This past week, they set the mark for most games in a season in which teammates both score at least 20 points. The record is now at 18 games and counting after both dropped over 30 in Sunday’s win over Chicago. That was their third such performance as teammates — the most ever.
<hr />
<h2>✅ 4. Las Vegas Aces (26-13) ⬇️</h2>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Last Week: 3</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">This Week: Fri. vs. TOR</li>

Despite a loss to Atlanta to open last week, the Aces still hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Dream by winning the season series 2-1. Las Vegas responded to that loss with consecutive wins over Connecticut and Toronto to pull within a half-game of Golden State for the No. 2 seed. One stat to keep in mind down the stretch: the Aces have the easiest strength of schedule, based on their remaining opponent’s win percentage.

After a tough overtime loss to Indiana last Sunday, the Dream bounced back with three straight wins, including a pair of brilliant performances from Angel Reese. In Thursday’s win at Los Angeles, Reese had a perfect shooting night, going 9-for-9 from the field with two 3-pointers, finishing with 20 points, 10 boards, eight assists and three steals. Two nights later in Phoenix, Reese dropped a career-high 31 points on 14-for-21 shooting, while adding 14 rebounds and four steals.

New York opened last week with a loss to Chicago as former Liberty guard Natasha Cloud scored a career-high 35 points. The Liberty responded with an important win over Indiana as it prevented the Fever from earning the head-to-head tiebreaker. With seeds 2-6 currently separated by just three games, tiebreakers may be needed at season’s end. New York holds the tiebreaker over Las Vegas (2-1), leads Atlanta (1-0, two games to play), is tied with Indy (2-2) and lost to Golden State (0-2, one game to play).

On Sunday, Shakira Austin scored a career-best 31 points to go with 10 rebounds as Washington rallied from 14 points down to earn a 105-100 win over Portland. That victory coupled with Chicago’s loss to Indiana clinched Washington’s first playoff appearance since 2023. At No. 7, the Mystics are two games back of the coveted No. 4 seed, which brings home-court advantage in the first round. Washington will face only one playoff team the rest of the season as they try to climb the standings.

Paige Bueckers dropped 32 points and splashed a career-high six 3-pointers (without a miss!) in Sunday’s win over Seattle. It was Dallas’ second straight win following a stretch of five losses in six games. The Wings can earn their first playoff berth since 2023 with a home win over Portland on Tuesday. Dallas enters the week up 5.5 games on the Fire with six games to play. A win on Tuesday would complete the eight teams headed to the postseason, with only the battle for positioning remaining.

If Portland’s recent play is any indication, expect the Fire’s matchup with the Wings to come down to the wire. Each of Portland’s last five games have been decided by five points or less, with the Fire going 2-3 in those contests; they are 10-8 overall in clutch games this season.

The Sky entered last week with slim playoff hopes and a gauntlet of tough opponents. They started strong with wins over New York and Golden State — the latter courtesy of a game-winning 3-pointer by Sydney Taylor with 0.6 seconds left — but were unable to sweep the week as they fell to Indiana on Sunday. That loss coupled with Washington’s win over Portland officially eliminated Chicago from the playoffs for a third straight year.

With the loss, the Mercury were officially eliminated from the playoffs following an appearance in the Finals last season, something not seen in the WNBA since the 2008 Mercury.

She ranks in the top five in the WNBA in scoring (20.8 ppg) and 3-pointers made (105), posting career-best marks in both categories.

2026-power-rankings-week-13

2026 WNBA Power Rankings: Week 13

We’re at the point of the season where a single game can make a huge impact on the playoff race. Sunday’s Fever-Dream game is a prime example.
Atlanta entered Sunday’s matchup a half-game back of Indiana in the standings, but held a 2-1 advantage in the season series.
A win would not only help the Dream immediately leapfrog the Fever for fourth place in the standings, but it would also secure the head-to-head tiebreaker with a 3-1 series victory.
However, the Fever outscored the Dream 17-9 in the fourth quarter to force overtime, where Indiana prevailed 95-91.
With the win, the Fever maintained their hold on fourth place (and moved within a half-game of the third-place Aces), but they also evened their season series with the Dream. That takes the head-to-head tiebreaker off the table. The next tiebreaker is record against teams over .500, which Indiana currently leads over Atlanta.
One game. Plenty of playoff implications.
With another week of high-stakes games set to begin tonight, let’s see how the teams stack up against one another with just two weeks until the FIBA World Cup break (Aug. 31–Sept. 16).

The league-leading Lynx enter this week having won four straight and 14 of their last 15 games. Minnesota has already clinched a playoff berth and can move closer to securing the No. 1 overall seed with Wednesday’s matchup with Golden State. A win clinches the head-to-head tiebreaker for the Lynx over the only team within five games of them in the standings.
<hr />
<h2>2. Golden State Valkyries (24-9) ↔️</h2>

The Valkyries had only one game last week, a 20-point victory over Chicago, for their fifth straight win and 14th in their last 16 games. Golden State will look to clinch its playoff spot on Monday night when Dallas visits Ballhalla. The Valkyries need one win or a Portland loss to clinch. While Golden State’s schedule was light last week, the Valkyries play a league-high seven games before the FIBA break as they look to stay hot.

<h2>3. Las Vegas Aces (24-12, clinched playoff berth) ⬆️</h2>

However, the Aces were unable to complete a 3-0 week as they dropped their rubber match against Minnesota on Saturday despite A’ja Wilson’s game-high 32 points. The Lynx clinched the season series 2-1.

Indiana’s win in Atlanta on Sunday prevented the Dream from securing the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Fever. This week, the tables turn, as Indiana has two chances to lock up head-to-head tiebreakers — Thursday in Dallas (series is tied 1-1, winner takes series) and Saturday in New York (Fever lead the series 2-1 ahead of final matchup of season). The Fever, who have won four straight and nine of their last 11, can bolster their playoff position with wins in these key games.

After falling to the Fever to open last week, the Liberty picked up wins over the Sparks and Sun to make it nine wins in their last 11 games. This week, New York will look to improve to 3-0 vs. Chicago before trying to even its season series with Indiana on Saturday in Brooklyn — the Liberty are 12-5 at home this season.

After opening the week against a Toronto team that has dropped 10 straight, the Mystics will try to become the first team to beat Minnesota twice this season and clinch their season series with the Lynx.

Atlanta opens a four-game road trip this week — the Dream are 9-7 away from home so far this season — looking to avoid a season sweep at the hands of the Aces.

This week, the Wings visit Golden State before hosting a critical game with the Fever that will determine the head-to-head tiebreaker.

On Sunday in Phoenix, the Fire did not let Diana Taurasi and her Ring of Honor ceremony distract them from the task at hand. Portland rallied past Phoenix for an 88-85 win. It was the Fire’s second win by one possession, and their fourth win over the last five games overall as Portland keeps its slim playoff hopes alive. 2026 WNBA Power Rankings: Week 12

The 2026 playoff picture is starting to come into focus as we know the first team to clinch (Minnesota) and the first team eliminated from contention (Seattle).
While three games separate first place (Minnesota) from second place (Golden State) at the top of the standings, just below them are six teams (Las Vegas, Indiana, Washington, Atlanta, New York and Dallas) also separated by only three games.
Each team is looking to not only clinch its spot but also earn the highest seed possible, which means every game from here on out is critical to how this race plays out.
Let’s take a look at how they stack up entering a new week.
Note: All stats and records are through games played Sunday, Aug. 9.

In Sunday’s win over Dallas, the Lynx not only became the first team to punch their ticket to the playoffs, but they also witnessed history as Kayla McBride became the first player in WNBA history to hit at least 10 3-pointers in a single game. Even with their 10-game win streak snapped, the Lynx have won 12 of their last 13 games dating back to July 8. Over that stretch, McBride has been cookin’ — averaging 23.1 points on 53.6% FG, 50.9% 3P, and 96.3% FT shooting splits.

The Valkyries bring a four-game win streak into this week, which has them hosting Chicago in their only game of the week. Dating back to June 24, Golden State has won 13 of its last 15 games, which is the best record over the past 15 games for any team in the league, one better than Minnesota. The Valkyries have already matched their win total from their inaugural season (23-21) — how much higher can they reach in Year 2?

The win over the Mercury was the Mystics’ first double-digit victory during the streak, as they continue to be the best clutch team in the league with a 14-6 record in games within five points in the final five minutes.

After Chelsea Gray shined in clutch time in an overtime win over Indiana, the Aces closed out a five-game road trip with back-to-back losses in Minnesota and New York — only their second consecutive defeats of the season and the first since last May. The loss to the Liberty came on the second night of a back-to-back with Coach Hammon sitting her stars as A’ja Wilson, Gray, and Jackie Young were inactive. However, the schedule doesn’t get any easier as the Aces open a five-game homestand with consecutive games against the red-hot Mystics before hosting the league-leading Lynx.

<h2>5. Indiana Fever (20-12) ⬇️</h2>
Last Week: 4
This Week: Tue. vs. NYL, Fri. vs. DAL, Sun. at ATL
After a tough loss to Las Vegas in overtime, the Fever bounced back to win at Chicago to come away with a 1-1 split on the week. Kelsey Mitchell led the way with 27 points in the win for her 16th consecutive game with at least 20 points. This is a WNBA record for the longest such streak in a single season, breaking A’ja Wilson’s run of 15 straight in 2024. However, Wilson still has the longest streak spanning multiple seasons (20). Can Mitchell inch closer to that mark this week as Indy faces New York, Dallas and Atlanta?

New York put up a perfect 3-0 week — albeit with two wins over the playoff-eliminated Storm and one against an Aces squad resting its stars — to improve to 7-1 over its last eight games. The Liberty are gaining momentum at the right time, bouncing back from a rough 2-8 stretch spanning a month from mid-June to mid-July. The Liberty will look to continue their upswing when they face the Fever, Sparks and Sun this week.

The Dream will look to bounce back as they open the week with games against two teams in the bottom third of the standings — Toronto and Connecticut enter this week with a combined 18-44 record — before an important matchup with Indiana on Sunday. Atlanta leads the season series 2-1 and can clinch the head-to-head tiebreaker with a win.

Dallas is now 1-5 in six games since the All-Star break and has fallen to eighth place in the standings. Two key factors during Dallas’ post-All-Star slide have been increased turnovers and a lack of 3-point shooting. The Wings led the league in turnover percentage entering the break (14.4%), but rank eighth since (17%). From beyond the arc, the Wings rank 14th in both 3-pointers made (6.8 per game) and 3-point percentage (30.6%) since the break.

2026 WNBA Power Rankings: Week 11

The 2026 WNBA regular season has officially entered its third act.
With two-thirds of the season complete, four tiers have emerged from the standings:
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Tier 1: The Minnesota Lynx hold a four-game lead over their nearest competitor.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Tier 2: Only 3.5 games separate the second-place Aces from the eighth-place Liberty, with the Valkyries, Dream, Wings, Fever and Mystics in between them.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Tier 3: Sitting five games back of Tier 2, only 1.5 games separate the ninth-place Sparks from the 13th-place Tempo, with Chicago, Phoenix and Portland in between them.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Tier 4: Sitting 3.5 games back of Tier 3, the Sun and Storm are the only teams with single-digit wins.</li>
</ul>
Three takeaways from looking at these tiers:
<ol>
<li style="font-weight: 400">The Lynx are in the driver’s seat to earn the No. 1 overall seed in the playoffs for the second straight season.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">The battles between the seven teams in Tier 2 for a top-four seed and home-court advantage in the opening round will be fascinating to follow and likely come down to the wire. Head-to-head matchups will be key as tiebreakers may come into play in such a tightly packed group.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">The five-game gap between Tier 2 (teams in the playoffs if the season ended today) and Tier 3 (teams headed to the lottery) is large, but not insurmountable. However, time is of the essence for those teams to make their move.</li>
</ol>

The Mercury made the biggest splash at Sunday’s trade deadline by acquiring All-Star guard Kelsey Plum from the Sparks. At 11-19, the Mercury sit six games back of the Liberty, who currently hold the eighth and final playoff spot. Can the addition of Plum ignite a late postseason push? That quest begins with a four-game road trip this week. Here’s the key question: How soon will Plum, who has been out since June 21 with ankle and lower leg injuries, suit up for the Mercury?

On the other end of the biggest deal of the trade deadline are the Los Angeles Sparks, who beat Portland on the same day the Plum deal became official to snap a six-game skid. The Sparks are now 4-12 without Plum this season, compared to 7-5 when their former leading scorer was in the lineup. With the trade saga behind them, the ninth-place Sparks sit five games back of the final playoff spot with 16 games to play. Can they make a late-season push to get into Tier 2?

The Fire have dropped five straight games and have gone just 5-15 over their last 20 following a promising 6-4 start through the first 10 games of their revival season. Despite their recent struggles, there have been many bright spots for the Fire so far this season, including the play of Carla Leite, who became the youngest player in WNBA history (22 years, 106 days old) to have multiple games with 20+ points and 10+ assists. Her second such game came Friday against Indiana and Caitlin Clark, who previously held that distinction.

Toronto has four games remaining on a five-game road trip, as the Tempo look to improve on their 4-8 road record and get back into the win column. First up is a rematch with the Valkyries in the Bay Area before heading to Portland in a clash of expansion teams. Will the newly-acquired Aneesah Morrow make her Tempo debut this week after joining Toronto at the trade deadline?

The Storm have dropped eight straight games, are 1-10 since the start of July, and risk becoming the first team officially eliminated from postseason contention. Seattle opens this week with back-to-back games in New York — the team that currently holds the final playoff spot. The Storm trail the Liberty by 12 games in the loss column with 13 games left to play. With the Liberty leading the three-game season series 1-0, a Seattle loss in either game against New York will seal the Storm’s lottery fate.

2026 WNBA Power Rankings: Week 10

Welcome to All-Star week.
This weekend, the league’s annual celebration of the game and its stars takes over Chicago with Friday&#8217;s State Farm 3-Point Contest and Kia Shooting Stars at Wintrust Arena, followed by Saturday’s All-Star Game at the United Center.
Before 22 of the league’s top players head to the Windy City for this weekend’s festivities, let’s take our weekly snapshot of the league and see how the teams stack up.
Note: All stats and records are through games played Sunday, July 19.

<h2>1. Minnesota Lynx (20-6) ↔️</h2>

The Lynx enter All-Star week with the third-longest active win streak at five consecutive victories. The two teams with longer streaks are biting at Minnesota’s heels in the standings, and these rankings (see our next two teams), but the Lynx have been able to keep them at bay — at least for now. The Lynx will be well represented in Chicago, with Olivia Miles and Courtney Williams playing for Team Spoon (coached by Cheryl Reeve), while Natasha Howard will represent Team Coop.

<h2>2. Golden State Valkyries (19-7) ⬆️</h2>

The Valkyries maintain their title as “hottest team in the league” as they extended their franchise-record win streak to nine in a row on Saturday. Golden State is a scorching 13-2 over their past 15 games, dating back to June 9. That is the best record in the league during that span. However, their two matchups with the Lynx (both losses by a combined total of nine points) came before this hot streak got started. Gabby Williams is the only member of the Valkyries on an All-Star roster, as the versatile forward will represent Team Coop.

<h2>3. Dallas Wings (17-8) ⬆️</h2>

After their Thursday game against New York was postponed, the Wings returned to the court for the first time in a week on Sunday. The time off did not slow their momentum as they secured their sixth straight victory, marking the franchise’s longest win streak in the Dallas era (since 2016). Dallas can match the all-time franchise record (eight games, set by Detroit in 2003 and Tulsa in 2015) if it can keep it alive until the All-Star break. A key question ahead of Monday’s rescheduled game against the Liberty will be the availability of Paige Bueckers, who left Sunday’s game after a collision with Nneka Ogwumike. Bueckers is also headed to Chicago as a member of Team Coop, while her Wings teammate Jessica Shepard will be on the opposing Team Spoon.

It’s tough to drop the Aces two spots in the rankings when they didn’t play a game all week, but with Golden State and Dallas on fire right now, the idle Aces were leapfrogged by both teams. This week, Las Vegas visits Toronto and Washington, before Jackie Young, A’ja Wilson, and coach Becky Hammon head to Chicago. As the coach of Team Coop, Hammon will now endure the daunting task that the WNBA’s other 14 coaches face throughout the season — trying to stop A’ja Wilson, who is starting for Team Spoon.

<h2>5. Indiana Fever (16-10) ↔️</h2>

Before she heads to Chicago to appear in her second WNBA All-Star Game, Caitlin Clark made a bit of history Friday night during Indiana’s win over Seattle. She erupted for 45 points, 10 assists, six 3-pointers, four steals, and two blocks in just 29 minutes. Clark is the only player in WNBA or NBA history to record 40+ points and 10+ assists in a game with under 30 minutes of action. Clark and the Fever have won four of their last five games (and are 7-3 in their last 10), helping them hold a top-five position. Indy will be well represented in Chicago, with Clark and Aliyah Boston on Team Spoon and facing Kelsey Mitchell this weekend.

Similar to Dallas with Paige Bueckers, Atlanta earned a victory on Sunday (93-91 over Chicago) but saw an All-Star leave the court and not return. Angel Reese exited the game with a left leg injury after just 20 minutes. Despite losing her, the Dream prevailed behind Allisha Gray’s 29 points and Jordin Canada’s buzzer-beating layup, pushing their win streak to three games. This weekend, assuming Reese is healthy, she will represent Team Coop and face Dream teammates Gray and Rhyne Howard, both of whom are on Team Spoon.

<h2>7. New York Liberty (13-12) ↔️</h2>

However, the Liberty went 1-4 in the five games leading up to that Championship Game win, and have gone 1-4 in the five games since. That 2-8 stretch has dropped New York from a tie for second place in the league to seventh place (just a half-game ahead of eighth). The Liberty will look to get back on track this week at Dallas and at home against Chicago before Breanna Stewart (Team Coop) and Jonquel Jones (Team Spoon) face each other in the All-Star Game.

Washington will try to avoid going into the break on a four-game skid as the Mystics face the Valkyries and Aces to close out their pre-All-Star break schedule. Similar to other teams featuring multiple All-Stars, the Washington duo of Sonia Citron (Team Coop) and Kiki Iriafen (Team Spoon) will go head-to-head as the two sophomores return to the All-Star Game for the second straight year.

Throughout July, Portland has traded wins and losses over six games. The Fire will try to continue that bounce-back trend entering their final game before the All-Star break. Coming off a 101-93 loss to the Lynx, they will look to rebound and cool down the blazing Dallas Wings on Wednesday. After playing eight of their last nine games on the road, the Fire will open a stretch of six home contests in a seven-game span. So far this season, Portland is 6-6 at home compared to just 5-9 on the road.

During that seven-game stretch, Toronto has allowed a league-high 92.9 points per game, while only scoring 81.9 per game (11th in the league). Before Mabrey heads to Chicago as an All-Star for Team Coop, she and the Tempo will look to get back on track with a matchup against the defending champs on Monday.

Speaking of game-winning heroics, the Sky will face Sabrina Ionescu and the Liberty in their final matchup before the All-Star break. Last month, Ionescu sank a game-winning layup against the Sky in their first meeting of the season. Can the Sky avenge that loss on the road?

Additionally, she needs just four rebounds to pass Rebekah Brunson for a spot in the all-time top five, and sits only nine 3-pointers shy of becoming the ninth player to reach 700 career triples. 2026 WNBA Power Rankings: Week 9

Since our last Power Rankings on June 29, the 2026 WNBA season has officially passed its midpoint. Through Sunday, 174 games have been played, with 156 more to go.
The first half of the season has already delivered historic moments, a promising rookie class, two expansion teams that have each racked up double-digit wins, and the first-ever two-time WNBA Commissioner’s Cup champions.
Before the stretch run toward the playoffs begins, the league’s top players will converge on Chicago next week to showcase their skills at the 2026 WNBA All-Star Game.
Let’s take a look at how the teams stack up against one another coming out of the season’s midpoint and ahead of the All-Star break.
Note: All stats and records are through games played Sunday, July 12.

Not only did Cheryl Reeve become the WNBA’s all-time leader in coaching wins, but she’s also guided the Lynx to the best record in the league through the season’s midpoint. And she’s done it with her best player — last year’s MVP runner-up Napheesa Collier — sidelined after offseason ankle surgeries. However, reports say Collier is “really close” to returning, which should only make the Lynx more formidable.
<hr />
<h2>2. Las Vegas Aces (17-7) ↔️</h2>
<ul>

<li style="font-weight: 400">Schedule Until All-Star Break: 7/20 at TOR, 7/22 at WAS</li>
</ul>
The Aces are coming off a wild 24-hour period. After matching the third-largest margin of victory in league history (48 points) on Saturday against Phoenix, the Aces followed it with their largest loss of the season (34 points) against Indiana. That 82-point swing from one game to the next is the largest in league history and is emblematic of Las Vegas’ season. Of the 15 games across the league this season that have been decided by more than 25 points, the Aces have been involved in six of them — the most of any team — with three wins and three losses.
<hr />
<h2>3. Golden State Valkyries (17-7) ↔️</h2>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Last Week: 3</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Schedule Until All-Star Break: Wed. at IND, Sat. vs. WAS, 7/20 vs. WAS</li>
</ul>
Riding a league-high (and franchise-record) seven-game win streak, it is tempting to put the Valkyries at the top of the power rankings as they currently hold the title of “hottest team in the league.” However, the Valkyries have yet to solve either the Aces (0-3) or Lynx (0-2), which are the only teams to beat Golden State since May 22. This season, the Valkyries are 0-5 against Las Vegas and Minnesota, and 17-2 against everyone else. The good news for Golden State: only two of its remaining 20 games come against either of those teams (both against Minnesota in August).
<hr />
<h2>4. Dallas Wings (16-8) ⬆️</h2>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Last Week: 6</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Schedule Until All-Star Break: Thu. vs. NYL, Sun. vs. LAS, 7/22 at POR</li>
</ul>
Another contender for the “hottest team in the league” title, the Wings have won five straight games. One more win (against New York on Thursday) would give the Wings their longest winning streak of the Dallas era, which began a decade ago. If the Wings can sweep their final three games heading into All-Star, they would tie the franchise record for consecutive wins in a season (eight), which they accomplished in 2015 in Tulsa and 2003 in Detroit.

After a 3-1 road trip, the Fever will close out their pre-All-Star schedule with a four-game homestand, beginning Wednesday against red-hot Golden State. Who else has been red hot? Indiana’s Kelsey Mitchell — one of three Fever players who will start in next weekend’s All-Star Game. Over the past five games — a stretch where Indy went 4-1 with two wins against Vegas — Mitchell has averaged 27.6 points on 49.4% FG, 47.4% 3P, 94.4% FT shooting splits.

Following their promising 12-4 start to the season, the Dream have now dropped six of their last seven games, falling to 13-10. Can they use their final three games before the All-Star break to build some momentum before sending their trio of All-Stars — Allisha Gray, Rhyne Howard, and Angel Reese — to Chicago for next weekend’s festivities?

<h2>7. New York Liberty (13-11) ⬇️</h2>

Since defeating the Aces on June 30 to become the first team ever to win the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup more than once, the Liberty have gone just 1-3. When it comes to collecting basketball trophies, New York holds the most recent NBA Cup, the Larry O’Brien Trophy as NBA champs, and the most recent WNBA Commissioner’s Cup. The first step in keeping that streak going is to get the regular season back on track.
<hr />
<h2>8. Washington Mystics (11-10) ↔️</h2>

<li style="font-weight: 400">Schedule Until All-Star Break: Tue. at TOR, Thu. vs. POR, Sat. at GSV, 7/20 at GSV, 7/22 vs. LVA</li>
</ul>
The Mystics have tiptoed both sides of .500 all season long, including hitting the mark eight times already: 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4, 7-7, 8-8, 9-9, and 10-10. While their record is nearly always on balance, the Mystics are imbalanced on both ends of the court. Washington ranks third in defensive efficiency (allowing just 102.8 points per 100 possessions), but is tied for last in offensive efficiency (scoring just 98.8 points per 100 possessions). After tying the second-highest scoring game of the season on June 28 (124 points vs. Portland), the Mystics had the lowest-scoring game of the season just eight days later (49 points vs. Golden State). Can the Mystics find consistency on offense down the stretch?

Following a three-game slide after Kelsey Plum was ruled out for at least a month with a lower leg injury, the Sparks won consecutive games over Indiana and Chicago to close out last week. Nneka Ogwumike led the team in scoring in both games, with 24 and 25 points, respectively. Keep an eye on Ogwumike’s point totals moving forward. The Sparks are 7-1 when she scores at least 20 points this season. They are just 2-10 when she’s held under 20.

Sunday&#8217;s win over New York snapped both a four-game skid and a dismal 2-8 run in their previous 10 games for the Tempo. Marina Mabrey became the franchise’s first All-Star when she was named one of the 12 reserves by the league’s coaches. It makes sense since Mabrey’s scoring has given opposing coaches nightmares in recent weeks. Over her last 10 games, Mabrey has averaged 26.1 points per game on 48.6% shooting overall and 47.2% from 3-point range on 8.9 attempts per game.

After dropping a heartbreaker in their four-overtime marathon matchup against the Mystics on June 28, the Fire bounced back by winning two of their three games this past week, earning victories at Seattle and Atlanta to double their road win total on the season (now 4-7). Portland faces three more road games this week before closing out its pre-All-Star schedule with a home game against Dallas. That includes a rematch with the Mystics in Washington on Thursday. Can these two teams deliver another instant classic?

The promise of Phoenix’s stretch of four wins in five games was dashed by a three-game skid last week, culminating in a blowout loss against the Aces (106-58) on the road. The Mercury will look to get back on track over their final four games before the All-Star break. That run begins Monday with a Semifinals rematch against the Lynx in Minnesota. The Lynx won the first two matchups this season; can the Mercury avoid a series sweep?

While the Sun went just 1-3 since our last rankings, their split in a home-and-home set with league-leading Minnesota stood out. The Sun eked out a 90-89 road win on Monday behind a season-high 29 points from Brittney Griner to prevent Cheryl Reeve from breaking former Sun coach Mike Thibault’s all-time coaching wins record. However, two days later, Reeve topped Thibault’s mark despite a strong effort from the shorthanded Sun, who were without Griner and Aneesah Morrow, and lost Saniya Rivers after just nine minutes.

Before sending sophomore center Dominique Malonga to Chicago for her first WNBA All-Star Game next week — she was voted in as a reserve by the league’s coaches — the Storm will look to end a run of four losses in their last five games this week. Seattle visits Chicago and Indiana before returning home to host two games against the Lynx before the break.

In the offseason, the Sky overhauled their roster, making acquisitions including Skylar Diggins, DiJonai Carrington, Azurá Stevens, Rickea Jackson, and Jacy Sheldon. Diggins (missed the last three games with a knee injury) joins Carrington (who has yet to play this season due to a foot injury) and Jackson (lost to a torn ACL after only four games) on the sidelines. As the missed games have added up, so have the losses, with Chicago dropping four of its last five games.

2026 WNBA Power Rankings: Week 8

What. A. Week.
A 53-point outburst from Marina Mabrey, matching the WNBA&#8217;s single-game scoring record
shared by A&#8217;ja Wilson and Liz Cambage.
A quadruple-overtime instant classic in DC as Sonia Citron and the Mystics outlasted the Fire
in only the second 4OT game in league history and the first since 2001.
Kamilla Cardoso dropped a career-best 30 points on a perfect 13-for-13 shooting, setting the
record for the most field goals made without a miss in league history.
Brittney Griner became the WNBA&#8217;s all-time leader in blocked shots with the 878th rejection
of her career.
Cheryl Reeve tied the WNBA record for most coaching wins 24 hours after joining Candace
Parker and Elena Delle Donne in entering the Women&#8217;s Basketball Hall of Fame.
How do we follow that?
On Tuesday night in Brooklyn, the Aces and Liberty square off in the Commissioner&#8217;s Cup
Championship Game as the last two WNBA champs vie to add a second Commissioner&#8217;s Cup to
their trophy collection.
But before a new week gets underway, let&#8217;s look at how the teams stack up through seven weeks
of play.
Note: All stats and records are through games played Sunday, June 28.

<ul>
<li>Last Week: 1</li>
<li>This Week: Fri. at NYL</li>
</ul>
Not only is Reeve tied for the most regular-season wins in WNBA history (she already owns the
record for playoff wins), but her Lynx also continue to hold the best record in the WNBA this
season. After opening the season 2-2, the Lynx have gone 15-2 since. They are off until Friday,
when they visit the Liberty in Brooklyn, with Reeve looking to take sole possession of first place
on the coaching wins list.
<hr />
<h2>2. Las Vegas Aces (14-5) ↔️</h2>
<ul>
<li>Last Week: 2</li>
<li>This Week: Tue. at NYL (CC), Fri. vs. CHI, Sun. vs. IND</li>
</ul>
After opening the week with a loss to New York in the first meeting of the season between the
Commissioner&#8217;s Cup finalists, the Aces bounced back with consecutive wins over Dallas and
Chicago to enter Tuesday&#8217;s Cup Championship Game with some winning momentum. In
Sunday&#8217;s victory over the Sky, A&#8217;ja Wilson made WNBA history as she scored 20 of her 30
points in the second half, passing Diana Taurasi (29) for the most 20+ point halves in league
history.
<hr />
<h2>3. Golden State Valkyries (13-7) ⬆️</h2>
<ul>
<li>Last Week: 5</li>
<li>This Week: Sat. at ATL</li>
</ul>
The Valkyries own the league&#8217;s longest active winning streak after going 3-0 last week with a
pair of wins over Atlanta and a victory over the Liberty. A key to Golden State&#8217;s success so far
this season has been its depth. The Valkyries lead all teams in bench scoring at 34.3 points per
game and have been led in scoring for at least one game by seven different players.
<hr />
<h2>4. New York Liberty (12-8) ↔️</h2>
<ul>
<li>Last Week: 4</li>
<li>This Week: Tue. vs. LVA (CC), Fri. vs. MIN</li>
</ul>
The Liberty enter Tuesday&#8217;s Commissioner&#8217;s Cup title game searching for answers after closing
last week with back-to-back losses following their win over the Aces.
&#8220;You can&#8217;t play with heart and play with effort just when things are going good,&#8221; Breanna
Stewart said after Sunday&#8217;s loss to Golden State. &#8220;It&#8217;s really the moments when you&#8217;re at the
lowest. And this team &#8212; we&#8217;re obviously not a finished product, but this wasn&#8217;t a great showing,
especially coming off of a loss.&#8221;
How will the Liberty respond when they clash with the Aces with the Cup on the line, followed
by a matchup with league-leading Minnesota?
<hr />
<h2>5. Atlanta Dream (12-7) ⬇️</h2>
<ul>
<li>Last Week: 3</li>
<li>This Week: Thur. at WAS, Sat. vs. GSV</li>
</ul>
After winning four straight games to improve to 12-4 on the season — matching their best start
since 2010 — the Dream dropped three straight to close out last week, including consecutive
losses at Golden State. However, Atlanta still enters the week with the best record in the Eastern
Conference and will look to get back on track when they visit the Mystics on Thursday and then
close out their season series with the Valkyries at home.
<hr />
<h2>6. Dallas Wings (11-8) ↔️</h2>
<ul>
<li>Last Week: 6</li>
<li>This Week: Thur. at CON, Sun. at TOR</li>
</ul>
The Wings opened last week with an overtime win in Seattle that saw rookie Azzi Fudd drop a
career-best 26 points to go with Paige Bueckers&#8217; 27 as the Wings&#8217; backcourt helped offset a
career-best 37 from Seattle center Dominique Malonga. But the Wings were unable to build off
the win as they fell to the top two teams in the standings — Minnesota and Las Vegas — to close
the week. Dallas will look to rebound when they visit Connecticut and Toronto this week.
<hr />
<h2>7. Indiana Fever (11-8) ↔️</h2>
<ul>
<li>Last Week: 7</li>
<li>This Week: Sun. at LVA</li>
</ul>
After splitting a pair of games with the Mercury, the Fever closed out a stretch of five home
games in a six-game span with a win over the Sparks. Even without Caitlin Clark, who missed
the game with a back injury, the Fever still put up their league-leading seventh game with 100+
points. Clark is not expected to miss much time, according to coach Stephanie White. The Fever
are off until Sunday, when they open a four-game road trip out West that is bookended by games
in Las Vegas.
<hr />
<h2>8. Washington Mystics (9-9) ⬆️</h2>
<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-264958" src="https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2026/06/Thumbnail-2026-06-29T121224.364.png" alt="" width="2000" height="1125" srcset="https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2026/06/Thumbnail-2026-06-29T121224.364.png 2000w, https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2026/06/Thumbnail-2026-06-29T121224.364-300x169.png 300w, https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2026/06/Thumbnail-2026-06-29T121224.364-1024x576.png 1024w, https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2026/06/Thumbnail-2026-06-29T121224.364-768x432.png 768w, https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2026/06/Thumbnail-2026-06-29T121224.364-1536x864.png 1536w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 2000px) 100vw, 2000px" />
<ul>
<li>Last Week: 9</li>
<li>This Week: Thu. vs. ATL</li>
</ul>
It&#8217;s fitting that the WNBA&#8217;s first quadruple-overtime game in 21 years would involve the
Mystics, who won the league&#8217;s only other 4OT game on July 3, 2001, with a 72-69 triumph over
Seattle. No team has played in more close games so far this season than the Mystics, who
improved to 5-2 in games decided by three points or less. The good news for Sonia Citron —
who logged a game-high 53 minutes, tied for the fifth-most minutes played in a game in WNBA
history — and the rest of the Mystics is that they are off until Thursday when they host Atlanta.
<hr />
<h2>9. Toronto Tempo (9-10) ⬆️</h2>
<ul>
<li>Last Week: 10</li>
<li>This Week: Sun. vs. DAL</li>
</ul>
The Tempo went just 1-2 last week, but that lone victory was certainly memorable. Marina
Mabrey was unstoppable against the Sparks on Thursday night as she erupted for 53 points and
nine 3-pointers, tying the WNBA&#8217;s single-game record in both categories. That win over L.A.
was the first game in a nine-game homestand for the Tempo that runs until the All-Star break.
After hovering within a game of .500 throughout their inaugural season, can the Tempo string
together some wins at home? The chances go up if Mabrey keeps dropping 50-balls in The
North.
<hr />
<h2>10. Los Angeles Sparks (8-10) ⬇️</h2>
<ul>
<li>Last Week: 8</li>
<li>This Week: No games until July 6</li>
</ul>
Los Angeles entered last week coming off a thrilling win over New York thanks to Nneka
Ogwumike&#8217;s buzzer-beating 3-pointer. However, the Sparks were unable to build off that victory
as they dropped consecutive road games at Toronto and Indiana by 28 and 24 points,
respectively. The Sparks have lost four of their last five games but have a full week off to
regroup as they do not play again until July 6 when they host Seattle.
<hr />
<h2>11. Phoenix Mercury (7-13) ⬆️</h2>
<ul>
<li>Last Week: 12</li>
<li>This Week: Thur. vs. SEA</li>
</ul>
Kahleah Copper is starting to cook, and after a 4-12 start to the season, the Mercury are
beginning to string some wins together. After having three 20+ point games over Phoenix&#8217;s first
14 contests, Copper has five in the Mercury&#8217;s last six games, averaging 26.5 points on 53.7%
shooting over that stretch. Phoenix still has work to do to climb out of its early hole and back
into playoff contention. The Mercury go for their first three-game win streak of the season when
they host Seattle on Thursday.
<hr />
<h2>12. Chicago Sky (6-13) ⬆️</h2>
<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-264959" src="https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2026/06/Thumbnail-2026-06-29T121326.814.png" alt="" width="2000" height="1125" srcset="https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2026/06/Thumbnail-2026-06-29T121326.814.png 2000w, https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2026/06/Thumbnail-2026-06-29T121326.814-300x169.png 300w, https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2026/06/Thumbnail-2026-06-29T121326.814-1024x576.png 1024w, https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2026/06/Thumbnail-2026-06-29T121326.814-768x432.png 768w, https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2026/06/Thumbnail-2026-06-29T121326.814-1536x864.png 1536w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 2000px) 100vw, 2000px" />
<ul>
<li>Last Week: 13</li>
<li>This Week: Fri. at LVA</li>
</ul>
The Sky picked up back-to-back home wins over Portland last week. The first was all about
balance, with Skylar Diggins leading seven Sky players in double figures in a 23-point win. The
second was all about Kamilla Cardoso, who made WNBA history with a career-best 30 points on
a perfect 13-for-13 shooting. Half of Chicago&#8217;s wins this season have come against the Fire, but
that season series is wrapped. After closing out the week with a loss to Las Vegas, the Sky get
another shot at the defending champs on Friday.
<hr />
<h2>13. Portland Fire (8-12) ⬇️</h2>
<ul>
<li>Last Week: 11</li>
<li>This Week: Sat. at SEA</li>
</ul>
Unfortunately for the Fire, one team must be on the wrong end of an instant classic. Carla Leite
— who banked in a 3-pointer with 0.4 seconds left in regulation to force overtime — had a good
look for the game-winner, but her runner just missed as the Fire fell to the Mystics in a
quadruple-overtime marathon. It was Portland&#8217;s third straight loss as the Fire dropped to 2-8 in
June. After four players logged 45+ minutes on Sunday, the Fire have nearly a full week off
before visiting Seattle on Saturday.
<hr />
<h2>14. Seattle Storm (5-15) ↔️</h2>
<ul>
<li>Last Week: 14</li>
<li>This Week: Thur. at PHX, Sat. vs. POR</li>
</ul>
Seattle&#8217;s week started with both frustration and hope. The agony came from suffering an 11th
straight loss for the Storm&#8217;s longest losing streak in team history. The promise came from 20-
year-old Dominique Malonga, who had a career night with 37 points and 12 rebounds in the OT
loss. Seattle&#8217;s week closed with both victories and optimism. The Storm earned double-digit wins
over both New York and Atlanta with rookies Flau&#8217;jae Johnson and Awa Fam leading the way.
Can the Storm continue to build when they visit Phoenix on Thursday?
<hr />
<h2>15. Connecticut Sun (4-15) ↔️</h2>
<ul>
<li>Last Week: 15</li>
<li>This Week: Thur. vs. DAL</li>
</ul>
Like Seattle, the Sun snapped an extended losing streak (seven games) with consecutive wins
last week. In Connecticut&#8217;s win over Chicago on Monday, Brittney Griner etched her name in the
record books, passing Margo Dydek as the all-time leader in blocked shots. Four days later, it
was Olivia Nelson-Ododa&#8217;s turn to lead the Sun, posting 12 points, nine rebounds, and three
blocks as Connecticut won back-to-back games for the first time this season. The Sun will try for
three straight when they host the Wings on Thursday.

2026 WNBA Power Rankings: Week 6

Commissioner's Cup 2026

Similar to last week, this week’s power rankings will offer a hybrid look at each team’s performance in both the overall season and the Commissioner’s Cup.
While Cup play wraps up with a six-game slate on Wednesday, June 17, we already know one of the teams that will compete in the Commissioner’s Cup Championship Game on June 30, after the New York Liberty punched their ticket on Sunday.
Let’s dive into this week’s rankings to see which teams have the best shot at facing the Liberty in the Commissioner’s Cup Championship Game and competing for a share of the $500,000 prize pool.
Note: All stats and records are through games played Sunday, June 14.

The Liberty not only clinched the best Commissioner’s Cup record in the East with Sunday’s win over Washington but also their seventh straight victory, giving New York the longest active win streak in the league. The Liberty advanced to the Championship Game for the third time in the last four years, looking to add a second Cup Championship after winning the competition in 2023.

<h2>2. Las Vegas Aces | Overall: 10-3 | Commissioner&#8217;s Cup: 5-0 (+44) ⬆️</h2>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Last Week: 4</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">This Week: Mon. at DAL, Wed. at PHX, Sun. vs. GSV</li>
</ul>
As the West’s only unbeaten in Commissioner’s Cup play, the Aces control their own destiny. They need just one win, either against Dallas on Monday or against Phoenix on Wednesday, to clinch their spot in the Cup Championship Game and set up a 2023 rematch with the Liberty. Las Vegas enters the week with two active streaks — six straight wins and 11 consecutive 20+ point games by A’ja Wilson. The four-time MVP already holds the WNBA record for the longest such streak (15 in 2024) and can tie the second-longest streak (12 by Breanna Stewart and Diana Taurasi) with one more 20-piece on Monday.

<h2>3. Minnesota Lynx | Overall: 10-3 | Commissioner&#8217;s Cup: 4-1 (+78) ⬇️</h2>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Last Week: 1</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">This Week: Mon. vs. POR, Wed. at LAS, Fri. at GSV, Sun. vs. WAS</li>
</ul>
It’s tough to bump the Lynx down by two spots after just a three-point loss to the defending champs snapped an eight-game win streak. However, that loss was critical in the Commissioner’s Cup race and played a significant role in this week’s rankings. Even in defeat, rookie sensation Olivia Miles continues to shine, posting a career-best 29 points against the Aces.
<hr />
<h2>4. Atlanta Dream | Overall: 9-4 | Commissioner&#8217;s Cup: 4-2 (+54) ⬇️</h2>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Last Week: 2</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">This Week: Thur. at IND, Sat. vs. IND</li>
</ul>
Despite the loss to New York that took them out of contention for the Commissioner’s Cup, the Dream have won three of their last four games entering this week’s two-game set with the Fever. So far this season, the Dream have followed an interesting pattern: winning two games, then losing, then repeating the cycle. They enter Thursday’s game at Indiana coming off a win. Will the pattern hold this week?

<h2>5. Dallas Wings | Overall: 8-5 | Commissioner&#8217;s Cup: 3-2 (+21) ⬇️</h2>
<div id="attachment_263573" style="width: 910px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-263573" class="wp-image-263573" src="https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2026/06/GettyImages-2280846123-scaled.jpg" alt="" width="900" height="600" srcset="https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2026/06/GettyImages-2280846123-scaled.jpg 2560w, https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2026/06/GettyImages-2280846123-300x200.jpg 300w, https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2026/06/GettyImages-2280846123-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2026/06/GettyImages-2280846123-768x512.jpg 768w, https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2026/06/GettyImages-2280846123-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2026/06/GettyImages-2280846123-2048x1365.jpg 2048w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" />Azzi Fudd #35 and Arike Ogunbowale #24 of the Dallas Wings</div>

<li style="font-weight: 400">Last Week: 3</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">This Week: Mon. vs. LVA, Wed. at GSV, Sat. vs. CHI</li>
</ul>
At 3-2 in Cup play, Dallas’ hopes of claiming the West’s berth in the Championship Game are slim. The Wings must not only win their final two games — against Las Vegas and Golden State — but they’ll also need help from other teams to bring down the Aces and Lynx. Outside of Cup play, the Wings are 8-5 on the season and need only three wins to surpass last year’s total of 10 victories.

<h2>6. Golden State Valkyries | Overall: 8-5 | Commissioner&#8217;s Cup: 3-2 (+20) ↔️</h2>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Last Week: 6</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">This Week: Mon. vs. LAS, Wed. vs. DAL, Fri. vs. MIN, Sun. at LVA </li>
</ul>
After dropping Cup games on the road to Las Vegas and Minnesota — both by five points or less — the Valkyries bounced back with two straight wins last week to keep their slim Championship Game hopes alive. However, this week presents a challenge with a four-game slate that begins against the Sparks (winners of three straight) and the Wings (to close out Cup play), before hosting the Lynx and the Aces, who have both been red-hot of late.
<hr />
<h2>7. Indiana Fever | Overall: 8-5 | Commissioner&#8217;s Cup: 4-1 (+24) ↔️</h2>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Last Week: 7</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">This Week: Tue. vs. TOR, Thur. vs. ATL, Sat. at ATL</li>
</ul>
The Fever have won three straight games (all against teams in the bottom third of the standings) and four of their last five, but have already been eliminated from Cup play by unbeaten New York. In their win on Thursday, Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston became the first teammates to each post 30-point double-doubles in the same game. Another notable storyline is the balanced scoring between Kelsey Mitchell and Clark, who are both averaging 20.3 ppg (top five in the WNBA). Only twice in WNBA history have teammates averaged 20 or more points over the course of a season (Phoenix in 2008 and 2018).
<hr />
<h2>8. Los Angeles Sparks | Overall: 7-6 | Commissioner&#8217;s Cup: 3-2 (+13) ⬆️</h2>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Last Week: 9</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">This Week: Mon. at GSV, Wed. vs. MIN, Sun. vs. NYL</li>
</ul>
After falling to Dallas in Kelsey Plum’s first game back from an ankle injury, the Sparks have won three straight games. That stretch includes the historic duel between Plum (43 points) and Phoenix’s Kahleah Copper (41 points), who both set career-highs as they became the first opponents in WNBA history to each score 40 or more points in the same game. Can L.A. ride that momentum into a tough schedule this week with matchups against the Valkyries (8-5), Lynx (10-3) and Liberty (10-4), who are a combined 28-12 on the season?
<hr />
<h2>9. Toronto Tempo | Overall: 7-7 | Commissioner&#8217;s Cup: 2-3 (-20) ⬇️</h2>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Last Week: 8</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">This Week: Tue. at IND, Fri. at CON</li>
</ul>
The Tempo opened the week on a high note with Brittney Sykes dropping a career-best 38 points to give Toronto a win over Connecticut in its first overtime contest. However, that was followed by consecutive losses, including a heartbreaker at Washington on Sonia Citron’s buzzer-beater. The Tempo will look to bounce back when they visit the Fever and Sun this week as they open their final road trip before a massive nine-game homestand takes them into the All-Star break.

<h2>10. Portland Fire | Overall: 7-8 | Commissioner&#8217;s Cup: 1-4 (-56) ↔️</h2>
<div id="attachment_263574" style="width: 910px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-263574" class="wp-image-263574" src="https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2026/06/GettyImages-2280827896-scaled.jpg" alt="" width="900" height="600" srcset="https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2026/06/GettyImages-2280827896-scaled.jpg 2560w, https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2026/06/GettyImages-2280827896-300x200.jpg 300w, https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2026/06/GettyImages-2280827896-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2026/06/GettyImages-2280827896-768x512.jpg 768w, https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2026/06/GettyImages-2280827896-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2026/06/GettyImages-2280827896-2048x1365.jpg 2048w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" />Bridget Carleton #6 of the Portland Fire</div>

<li style="font-weight: 400">This Week: Mon. at MIN, Wed. vs. SEA</li>

It took five tries, but the Fire earned their first-ever Commissioner’s Cup win on Saturday as they edged out Dallas to snap a four-game losing streak. Portland opens the week in Minnesota to take on the Lynx in the first of nine road games over its next 11 contests. The Fire are 2-3 on the road so far this season, compared to 5-5 in their league-high 10 home games.

<h2>11. Washington Mystics | Overall: 5-7 | Commissioner&#8217;s Cup: 2-3 (-37) ↔️</h2>
<ul>

Sonia Citron’s turnaround fadeaway jumper at the buzzer to beat Toronto on Friday was only her third mid-range bucket of the season, as she typically does her work either in the paint (55.2% of her shots) or beyond the 3-point line (38.8% of her shots). That thrilling win was followed by a loss — Washington’s third in its last four games — to the Liberty as New York clinched its spot in the Commissioner’s Cup Championship Game.
<hr />
<h2>12. Phoenix Mercury | Overall: 4-11 | Commissioner&#8217;s Cup: 2-4 (-54) ↔️</h2>

Kahleah Copper and the Mercury were on the wrong end of a historic duel against Kelsey Plum and the Sparks on Saturday. For Phoenix, it marked a third straight loss and the team&#8217;s ninth defeat in its last 11 games. This week, the Mercury will close out Commissioner’s Cup play against the Aces in a Finals rematch on Wednesday, before hosting the Storm in the second half of ABC’s Saturday doubleheader.
<hr />
<h2>13. Chicago Sky | Overall: 4-9 | Commissioner&#8217;s Cup: 1-4 (-45) ↔️</h2>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Last Week: 13</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">This Week: Wed. vs. NYL, Sat. at DAL</li>

On Thursday, the Sky trailed by as many as 19 points at Indiana before rallying back and ultimately falling in overtime. Leading the comeback was rookie guard Sydney Taylor, who scored a career-best 30 points in just 21 minutes. The undrafted rookie out of Louisville was impressive in her limited minutes. Could that performance earn her a larger role? After dropping eight of their last nine games, the Sky need a spark to help turn their season around. Could that spark come from Taylor, who has the highest-scoring game by a rookie this season?
<hr />
<h2>14. Seattle Storm | Overall: 3-12 | Commissioner&#8217;s Cup: 0-6 (-66) ↔️</h2>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Last Week: 14</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">This Week: Wed. at POR, Sat. at PHX</li>

The Storm have dropped eight straight games, the longest active losing streak in the league and just two shy of the longest skid in franchise history (10 straight in 2023). Seattle’s first shot to get a win comes on Wednesday in a Pacific Northwest clash with the Fire in Portland before heading to Phoenix to close out the week.
<hr />
<h2>15. Connecticut Sun | Overall: 2-13 | Commissioner&#8217;s Cup: 0-5 (-44) ↔️</h2>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Last Week: 15</li>

Entering this week, the Sun have dropped five straight games — including three decided by single digits. Their first chance to end that skid is Wednesday against Washington in the Commissioner’s Cup finale for both teams. After playing a league-high nine road games so far this season, the Sun continue their six-game homestand this week.
