Finals

NEW YORK, Oct. 13, 2026 – Games 3 and 4 of the WNBA Finals between the Golden State Valkyries and Atlanta Dream will be played at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, the WNBA announced today.
Game 3, originally scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 22, will now be played on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 8:00 p.m. ET and will air on USA Network and CNBC and stream on Peacock.
Game 4 will remain on Saturday, Oct. 24, with tip-off moving to 1:00 p.m. ET from 3:30 p.m. ET. That game will still air on NBC and stream on Peacock.
To accommodate the Dream on Oct. 24, the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks have agreed to move the start time of their regular-season home opener that evening. The Hawks will now host the Houston Rockets at 8:30 p.m. ET instead of 8:00 p.m. ET.
“We are grateful for the efforts made by numerous stakeholders, including the Dream, the Valkyries, the Hawks, State Farm Arena, and NBC Sports and USA Sports,” said Cathy Engelbert, WNBA Commissioner. “The change of venue dramatically expands the seating capacity and ensures that the Dream will be able to provide an extraordinary atmosphere for the first WNBA Finals game to be played in the Atlanta market since 2013. We are pleased that thousands more fans across the Southeast region will have the opportunity to experience the ultimate WNBA action – the WNBA Finals – in person.”
“This is what the players and the fans deserve,” said Larry Gottesdiener, Atlanta Dream majority owner. “We are grateful to all of the stakeholders who worked together to resolve the conflicts and make this happen.”
“We are thrilled that we will be able to accommodate the Dream as they host Games 3 and 4 of the WNBA Finals at State Farm Arena. Playing for a championship is special, and we want the Dream to feel the full support of the city during this amazing run,” said Andrew Saltzman, President of Business Enterprise and Chief Commercial Officer of the Atlanta Hawks and State Farm Arena.
The best-of-seven WNBA Finals, which follow a 2-2-1-1-1 format, tip off at Chase Center in San Francisco, where the No. 2-seed Valkyries will host the No. 4-seed Dream in Game 1 on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 3:30 p.m. ET/12:30 p.m. PT on NBC and Peacock and Game 2 on Monday, Oct. 19, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on USA Network, CNBC, and Peacock.
Tickets for Games 3 and 4 of the WNBA Finals will go on sale to the general public Friday, Oct. 16, at 10:00 a.m. ET at <a href="https://dream.wnba.com/">atlantadream.com</a>.

The Favorite: LV Aces (-135)
After a thrilling 107–98 overtime win in Game 5 over the Indiana Fever, the two-time champion Las Vegas Aces (-135) punched their ticket back to the Finals. Their opponent? The No. 4 seed Phoenix Mercury (+115), a team that caught fire late in the regular season and carried that momentum through the playoffs. Phoenix stunned the league by taking down the top-seeded Minnesota Lynx — heavy favorites for much of the year — in four games. The Mercury showed resilience and poise under pressure, erasing a 20-point deficit in Game 2 (tying the largest road comeback in WNBA playoff history) and storming back from 13 points down in the fourth quarter to close out the series.
The Aces, meanwhile, have looked unstoppable down the stretch. After sitting at .500 at the All-Star break, Las Vegas ripped off a 16-game win streak to surge into the No. 2 seed — then extended it to 17 with a Game 1 victory over Seattle. Reigning MVP A’ja Wilson elevated her game even further, locking up her fourth MVP award while cementing herself as the league’s most dominant force. Her playoff heroics have only added to her legend, highlighted by a record-setting third career 35-point postseason performance in a series-clinching win (per ESPN).
Buckle up — this one has all the makings of a classic.

Las Vegas Aces vs. Phoenix Mercury WNBA Finals Preview
Game 1 tips off Friday, October 3rd, 8 p.m. ET
While the Mercury have been dominant in closing out games, the Aces have been battle-tested at every step of the postseason. Las Vegas edged the Storm by a single point in Game 3 of the opening round and needed overtime to put away Indiana in the semis. Phoenix, by contrast, has stumbled out of the gate in multiple games — but their knack for late rallies and fourth-quarter poise has powered them into the Finals. Momentum may tilt toward the Mercury, but Las Vegas still has the ultimate X-factor in A’ja Wilson, with Jackie Young putting on a clinic of her own.
The Mercury embraced the underdog role this postseason, first knocking out the reigning champion New York Liberty in Round 1, then stunning the No. 1 seed Minnesota Lynx in Round 2. With their Big 3 of Satou Sabally, Alyssa Thomas, and Kahleah Copper fully healthy, Phoenix enters another series as the betting underdog — but this team is far from overmatched.
How Do The Finalists Stack Up?
The numbers tell the story: the Aces own the best postseason offensive rating (108.9), while the Mercury counter with the top defensive rating (92.2). Phoenix has had slow starts — including missing their first six shots in Game 4 of the semis — yet still found ways to close. Their stars have delivered: Thomas has been nearly a triple-double machine (18.6 PPG, 9.1 APG, 8.4 RPG), Sabally adds 17.9 PPG and 7.4 RPG with legit stretch-big range (34% from three in the playoffs), and Copper rounds it out with 15.0 PPG.
Las Vegas, though, has Wilson — and she’s been every bit the MVP. She’s averaging 26.0 PPG, 9.1 RPG, and 2.8 BPG in the postseason, after torching Phoenix for 25 per game in the regular season. Jackie Young has been the Aces’ other engine, putting up 20.5 PPG, including the clutch game-winner to seal the Storm series. Chelsea Gray adds steady veteran playmaking with 10.3 PPG and 7.3 APG, giving Vegas a balanced three-headed attack.
Realistically, this series hinges on whether Phoenix can limit Wilson — and I say “limit” lightly. The other swing factor: which team closes better in the fourth quarter. While Wilson is the best player on the floor, I lean Mercury to keep their underdog magic alive.
Sabally’s versatility as a 6’4 forward who can shoot the three, get to the line, and defend multiple positions is a threatening matchup. If Phoenix continues to show resiliency late in games and gets consistent production from its Big 3, they could flip this Finals on its head.
For bettors, this series is the definition of strength vs. strength: the Aces’ high-powered offense against the Mercury’s gritty identity. Their paths to the Finals couldn’t be more different, but Phoenix’s fourth-quarter toughness makes them a dangerous underdog — particularly against the spread and in live-betting spots if they fall behind early. With the W’s first-ever best-of-seven Finals, this isn’t just history in the making. It’s a clash of styles, stars, and storylines that should deliver fireworks on every level.

The Mercury were led by All-Stars Satou Sabally, who averaged a team-high 18.3 points along with 6.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.3 triples over four games, while triple-double queen Alyssa Thomas stuffed the stat sheet, averaging 15.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 9.0 assists and 1.8 steals over the four matchups.
Series Breakdown: 3 Things To Watch
<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-204861" src="https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2025/10/unnamed-1.png" alt="" width="512" height="341" />
1. Strength vs. Strength
This matchup sees the best offense of the postseason (Las Vegas) against the best defense of the postseason (Phoenix).
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">The Aces lead the WNBA playoffs in offensive rating (108.9), points per game (87.0) and effective field goal percentage (53.9%) over eight games.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">The Mercury lead the WNBA playoffs in defensive rating (92.2) and fewest opponent points per game (75.9), while allowing the third-lowest effective field goal percentage (45.5%) over seven games.</li>
</ul>
The must-see matchup in this series is Las Vegas’ A’ja Wilson vs. Phoenix’s Alyssa Thomas, who finished first and third, respectively, in MVP voting this year. Both serve as their team’s centerpiece on both ends of the court.
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">On offense, Wilson led the league in scoring (23.4 ppg), while Thomas led the league in assists (9.2 apg).</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">On defense, Wilson led the league in blocks (2.3 bpg), while both players finished top five in steals and rebounding.</li>
</ul>
How will Phoenix try to contain the scoring from Wilson, who is coming off a 35-point effort in Game 5 against Indiana to set the WNBA record for most career 30+ point playoff games (8)? This year, the Aces are 14-2 between the regular season and playoffs when Wilson scores 30+ points.
Between Thomas, Sabally and Natasha Mack, the Mercury have tough post defenders to throw at Wilson as it will take a team effort to keep the MVP from getting buckets.
Conversely, can the Aces slow down Thomas as a playmaker and prevent AT from distributing to her teammates? Between the regular season (13-3) and playoffs (3-0), the Mercury are 16-3 this season when AT drops at least 10 dimes. Finding a way to make “The Engine” more of a scorer than a passer could be key for Vegas.
In 26 career head-to-head matchups, Wilson has a 17-9 edge over Thomas, including a 6-3 record in the playoffs as Wilson’s Aces eliminated Thomas’ Sun in both 2020 (Semifinals) and 2022 (Finals).
2. Which Team Will Win Clutch Time?
With three of their four regular season matchups being decided by six points or less, we can expect close games throughout this series. That means the team that executes best in the pressure-packed closing minutes will have the best shot at hoisting the WNBA championship trophy this month.
Throughout the regular season and postseason, the Aces and Mercury have been two of the best teams in the league in clutch situations – defined as the final five minutes with the score within five points.
During the regular season, the Aces went a league-best 14-5 (.737 win percentage) in clutch games, with the Mercury not far behind with the third-highest win percentage at 13-8 (.619). In the playoffs, six of Phoenix’s seven games have featured clutch time and the Mercury have gone 4-2 in those games, while Vegas is 2-2 in clutch playoff games.
Keep an eye on these players as the clock ticks down in the fourth quarter.
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Alyssa Thomas (PHX): Tied for fifth in total clutch points (50) and first in clutch assists (17) while shooting 74.1% (20-of-27) – second among players with 10+ shot attempts.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Jackie Young (LVA): Tied with Thomas with 50 total clutch points, while posting 50-50-100 shooting splits, showing off the ice water in her veins by going 21-of-21 at the line.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Jewell Loyd (LVA): The only player to shoot a higher percentage than AT was Loyd, who shot 75% (9-of-12), including tying for the league-high in clutch 3-pointers made with six on just seven attempts (85.7%).</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Satou Sabally (PHX) and A’ja Wilson (LVA): Tied for 12th in clutch scoring with 40 points apiece, with Wilson leading all players in clutch plus/minus at +52 in 47 minutes.</li>
</ul>
3. AT Chasing Elusive WNBA Title
After an eight-year run of contention in Connecticut &#8212; including WNBA Finals losses in 2019 (to Washington) and 2022 (to Las Vegas) &#8212; Alyssa Thomas joined the Mercury in the offseason as part of a historic 10-team trade.
She was part of a roster overhaul for the Mercury, who carried over only two players from 2024 to 2025 – Kahleah Copper and Mack. The city may have changed for Thomas, but AT’s all-around excellence (single-season record nine triple-doubles, more than any other player in league history for their career) led to another deep playoff run.
While Thomas has racked up plenty of accolades over the course of her WNBA career – she’s a six-time All-Star, a three-time All-WNBA performer (likely to soon to be four-time), a six-time All-Defensive Team selection (likely to soon to be seven-time), a season-long league lead in three different categories (steals in 2020, rebounds in 2023, assists in 2025) – the ultimate prize of a WNBA title (and potential Finals MVP) has eluded her thus far.
Will the third WNBA Finals appearance be the charm for Thomas to add champion to her already outstanding resume.
Potential X-Factors To Watch
AT Triple-Double Watch: The Mercury are 8-1 this season when Alyssa Thomas records a triple-double, including her 20-point, 11-rebound, 11-assist performance in the series-clinching win over New York in the first round.
DB Back In The Valley: After being released by Indiana, DeWanna Bonner signed with the Mercury as a free agent, returning to Phoenix, where she played her first 10 WNBA seasons and won two titles (2009, 2014). The Mercury are 8-2 this season (including the playoffs) when Bonner scores 13+ points.
Trio Of Finals MVPs: Three of the last four players to be named WNBA Finals MVP will be in this series: Las Vegas&#8217; A&#8217;ja Wilson (2023) and Chelsea Gray (2022) as well as Phoenix&#8217;s Kahleah Copper (2021 with Chicago). All three players possess the skills to take over a game at any time and have proven to be players that can single-handedly swing a series.
Jewell Looking For More Gold: Already a two-time champion during her decade-long run in Seattle, Loyd is in her first season in Vegas following an offseason trade. Loyd’s midseason move to a reserve role coincided with Las Vegas’ season-ending run to the 2 seed. She’s averaged 12.1 points on 40.9% 3-point shooting off the bench.
Limited Travel: With Las Vegas and Phoenix separated by just 300 miles, travel between the two cities should be a breeze in this duel of the desert – compared to a matchup of teams on opposing coasts – giving both teams more time to recover and prepare for each ensuing game.

2025 WNBA Playoffs and Finals Dates

After a whirlwind end to the 2024 WNBA Finals, the New York Liberty players have celebrated in a variety of Seafoam green looks. While most players (and fans) are focused on the athletic preparations for a potential championship, there's also the style dimension.&nbsp;

Game 5 brought serious, elevated tunnel style from the players while Game 4 featured intentional sneaker choices, like Sabrina Ionescu wearing green after seeing a University of Oregon win. With record-breaking viewership for the Finals, players also may strategically debut new sneakers or get their braids done, like Natisha Hiedeman.&nbsp;

As soon as the game ends, winning players have customized slogan T-shirts for in-stadium photographs before the celebrations start. Following the Championship Parade that happened last week, take a closer look to discover style notes from the action at Game 5 and the Liberty’s city celebration.

The New York Liberty's leading players bring their finest suits out for their tunnel moment at Game 5. Breanna Stewart wears a dark gray suit and matching wide shorts, with gold jewelry and a yellow gold watch. Sabrina Ionescu keeps her simple, sleek style but adds a light purple blazer to elevate her Finals look.

#1 TUNNEL SUITS

Finishing her season of sneaker debuts, Sabrina Ionescu wears a new pair of Nike sneakers called the Sabrina 2 in a "Lily" colorway. Although these sneakers won't be released until summer of 2025, its strategic debut allows these sneakers to go down in history as her Championship-winning model. The color is inspired by Ionescu's mother, Liliana. Nyara Sabally also wears a model from Ionescu's collaboration with Nike, the Sabrina 2's in the "Conductor" colorway.

#2 SABRINA’S SIGNATURE

Multiple players across both teams enhanced their on-court powers by wearing pink on their sneakers. On the Liberty, Kayla Thornton wears a pair of New Balance Two WXY V5 Basketball Shoes in an electrifying pink and purple colorway. Betnijah Laney wears a pair of adidas Harden Volume 8 Shoes in a 'Miami Nights' colorway, with pink and touches of neon blue.

On the Minnesota Lynx, Alanna Smith wears a Nike LeBron XXI sneaker in pink with metallic details. Courtney Williams wears the Triple Double in "Pink GRL" by Moolah Kicks, with a subtle Y2K-inspired leopard print pattern.

#3 PINK SNEAKERS

Making a courtside appearance during Game 5, Chicago Sky player Angel Reese wears a custom split-team top by New York City-based designer Jocelyn Hu. The top features half of a Breanna Stewart jersey and half of a Napheesa Collier jersey, which reminds fans of the unity amongst the W's players. After rocking Chanel purses all season, Reese also wears a forest green variation for the final look of her first season.

#4 ANGEL REESE CUSTOM

Known as Big Ellie, the New York Liberty's mascot wears an impressive custom outfit by Mario and Lee for the 2024 WNBA Championship Parade. Reminiscent of the Jeff Hamilton jackets that mark historic championship wins in other sports leagues, Ellie the Elephant wears a Seafoam Green leather jacket with the Brooklyn Bridge, the Statue of Liberty and the WNBA logo. Paired with matching pants, Big Ellie also dons an Off-White purse to finish her celebratory look.

And then there were two. The New York Liberty and Minnesota Lynx will square off in the WNBA Finals for the first time in history. To get here, the Liberty swept the Atlanta Dream and dominated the semi-finals against the Las Vegas Aces, winning the series 3-1. As for the Lynx, they swept the Phoenix Mercury and came out on top of a winner-take-all Game 5 versus the Connecticut Sun. Deep down, we basketball fans wanted this: the two top-seeded teams battling it out for the ultimate crown.
Historically, the Finals have only favored one of these franchises. The Lynx have won four WNBA championships (2011, 2013, 2015, 2017), which is tied with the Houston Comets and Seattle Storm for most all time. Cheryl Reeve, the 2024 Coach of the Year, was the head coach for all four titles. Meanwhile, the Liberty has served as the runner-up five times, dating back to the league’s debut season in 1997. That’s the most any franchise has made it to the Finals and lost.
Zooming back into this regular season, the Lynx have had the Liberty’s number, winning three of the four meetings, which includes the Commissioner’s Cup Championship in June. Minnesota is the only team to defeat New York multiple times this season. But this is the postseason, and so far, the superstars for each team have been ballin’. The Liberty’s Sabrina Ionescu is averaging a staggering 20.7 ppg in the playoffs, <a href="https://www.si.com/wnba/sabrina-ionescu-liberty-defeat-aces-wnba-finals-return">shooting a red-hot</a> 46% from 3-point land. Breanna Stewart has been a ball hawk on the defensive end and scoring at will with 20 points per contest (while adding eight blocks and six steals in the playoffs). And Leonie Fiebich, at the lengthy 6’4, has proven to be an integral piece to this Liberty roster.
But the Lynx’s Napheesa Collier might be playing the best basketball in the league right now. She’s averaging almost 30 ppg in the postseason—don’t forget about the <a href="https://lynx.wnba.com/news/napheesa-collier-scores-42-to-tie-a-wnba-playoff-record-for-points-and-the-lynx-swept-the-mercury#:~:text=MINNEAPOLIS%20(AP)%20Napheesa%20Collier%20scored,left%20in%20the%20fourth%20quarter.">42-point eruption</a> in the first round! She’s been poetically scoring around the rim (59% on 2-pointers) and drilling it 45% from deep. Every move is fluid; every counter move is diligent. She’s nearly unstoppable. Plus, the 2024 Defensive Player of the Year has led the top defensive team with two blocks and 1.1 steals per game. Collier’s point guard Courtney Williams, who exploded for 24 points and seven assists in Game 5 of the semi-finals, is also peaking at the right time.
Reeve and Liberty head coach Sandy Brondello both have championship pedigree. The game-to-game adjustments and defensive schemes will be top-notch. We’re in for such a treat.
Key Players:
<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-194457" src="https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2024/10/Article_Images-JJ.png" alt="" width="960" height="640" srcset="https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2024/10/Article_Images-JJ.png 960w, https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2024/10/Article_Images-JJ-300x200.png 300w, https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2024/10/Article_Images-JJ-768x512.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" />
Jonquel Jones, New York
Jones got in early foul trouble in Game 3 of the semi-finals against Las Vegas. She had to sit for extended minutes, starting as early as seven minutes into the second quarter. With her on the bench, it glared to viewers just how important Jones is to this Liberty team. They missed her scoring (at all three levels) and the paint presence on the defensive end. But, frankly, some of her fouls were unnecessary ones. Fouls that you don’t do when you know you’re an extremely valuable asset to your team’s chances of winning. She’ll have to play smarter; Minnesota will attack Jones, aim to get her flustered, and eliminate her from the equation altogether. Not getting block-happy or being over-aggressive on hedges will be crucial to staying on the floor.
Jones averaged only 10 points per game on 25 shots in the three-game regular season series. That’s only about eight shots per game. In the Commissioner’s Cup, she went 0-3 for a dismal three points, all from the free-throw line. This can’t happen again. New York should exploit Minnesota’s lack of post size in the Finals by feeding Jones deep in the paint and have Jones crash the offensive glass.
Jones was excellent in last season’s Finals. She had back-to-back 20+ point performances. The Liberty will look for her to perform similarly as they hold a home-court advantage.
<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-194458" src="https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2024/10/Article_Images-BC.png" alt="" width="960" height="640" srcset="https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2024/10/Article_Images-BC.png 960w, https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2024/10/Article_Images-BC-300x200.png 300w, https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2024/10/Article_Images-BC-768x512.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" />
Bridget Carelton, Minnesota
Minnesota (and Liberty) fans remember what Carelton did during the Commissioner’s Cup in New York. A team-high 23 points, six 3-pointers, five assists, and three steals. Some even say she should’ve won the game’s MVP award for her late surge. But stats aside, Carelton has the confidence to come into New York and make a real difference. We, as fans, want an old-fashioned shoot-out. Ionescu and Carelton’s stroke should make us run to grab umbrellas because it’s raining 3s. Carelton has that power. She can get hot in a hurry.
The Lynx are at their best when they move the ball—they led the league in team assists. However, there were spurts in the Sun series when the ball got sticky. It would stay on one side of the court and not zip around the horn like it typically does. Shooters like Carelton suffer when this happens. She combined for eight points in the last two semi-final contests. She’s primed for a breakout performance in these Finals. With Collier garnering more attention and potentially double teams, Carelton must float to the open spots along the arch to make herself available and then knock down the open jumper.
It’s the Finals, baby! Everyone will need to be at the top of their game, Carelton and Jones included. Phee and Stewie, former UConn teammates and summer Olympic gold medalists, are surging right now, but only one can be crowned this season’s WNBA champion. The final quest starts Thursday on ESPN.

Keeping fans on the edge of their seats with exciting games during the Finals, the 2023 season has officially ended with another Championship title for the Las Vegas Aces. While the on-court action might have overshadowed the fashion spotted at each game, there were courtside appearances and storytelling details that made this season even more memorable.  Fans present at each game could spot current players showing their support, former players cheering on the current legends-in-the-making, and various celebrities from coast to coast.
While the players were more focused on their performance, the attendees elevated their style with intentional messaging: signaling the fall season with chunky cardigans strategically building connections with other women&#8217;s sports through graphic t-shirts and color coordination from head to toe.  As the final round-up of the Flyest Fits of the 2023 season, &#8220;The W in Designer&#8221; is pleasantly surprised with how the league&#8217;s style ended on its highest note. While players and their stylists have revealed how style often takes the backseat when it&#8217;s time to focus on the game, it leaves room for the game attendees to take their outfits more seriously. Even in the season&#8217;s final moments and post-win celebration, the Las Vegas Aces applied their slogan of &#8220;Raising the Stakes&#8221; and inspired everyone to raise their style.

After this season, it&#8217;s confirmed– Satou Sabally might be one of the sweetest players with an even sweeter, candy-colored approach to her style. Showing up to Game 1 of the Finals in a <a href="https://www.instagram.com/ninachanel/">Nina Chanel</a> x Timberland men&#8217;s graphic cardigan, Sabally pays homage to her time playing with the Oregon Ducks with a pink version of the standard uniform. Pairing the jersey with a light pink skirt and a limited edition &#8220;Poise Peach&#8221; version of Antoine Manning&#8217;s<a href="https://www.instagram.com/homageyear/"> Homage Year</a> Minimini purse, Satou takes to Instagram to share her excitement about seeing her sister, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/nyarasabally/">Nyara Sabally</a>, play.

<a href="https://www.instagram.com/candaceparker/">Candace Parker</a>
With a hot streak of winning multiple championships, fans were thrilled to see Candace Parker appear courtside with her team during the Finals. Although a foot surgery prevented her from playing, Parker amplified her presence during Game 1 with a brightly-colored matching set from Palm Angels. The &#8220;Palmity&#8221; allover print on her button-up shirt and loose pants provides a relaxing mindset amid an intense season. After continuing her partnership with Adidas through the season, Parker wears a pair of sneakers with an orange and purple gradient, which may hint at new products.

<a href="https://www.instagram.com/airswoopes22/">Sheryl Swoopes</a>
During each Finals game, former WNBA stars supported current players by attending games and posing for photos. Sheryl Swoopes appeared at Game One looking as fly as ever with a white graphic t-shirt and loose silk pants in a green color. She expertly pairs her gold hoop earrings with stacks of jewelry on her neck and wrists, which draws attention to her extra-long manicure. When Swoopes is present during the first Finals game, it hints at the excitement that would unfold before the Championship.

While Flea and Melody Ehsani are typically spotted courtside at Lakers games, they appeared at Game Two. This celebrity couple has a well-documented history of coordinating outfits for each game, and they transform that energy into chic, matching sets. Flea wears a Homme Plissé Issey Miyake Technical-pleated suit, while Ehsani wears a brown set with feather details. Apart from giving A&#8217;ja Wilson a shout-out on Instagram, Ehsani (and Flea) make a surprising decision to forgo their typical Jordans for multicolored pairs of A Bathing Ape&#8217;s Bape Sta Low sneakers.

<a href="https://www.instagram.com/sbird10/">Sue Bird</a>
Most hardcore WNBA fans were probably looking for Sue Bird, who appeared courtside during multiple games in the Finals. Although her outfit for Game Three was more lowkey with a cream-colored T-shirt from the <a href="https://gothamfcshop.com/collections/thank-you-kriegs/products/copy-of-ali-krieger-short-sleeve-tee-cream">Gotham FC Shop</a>, a black cardigan, crisp brown pants, and chunky black loafers, it sends a strong message about unity across women&#8217;s sports. <a href="https://www.instagram.com/officialbeckyhammon/">Becky Hammon</a>
Although Las Vegas Aces coach Becky Hammon was focused on more important things than her outfits during Game Three and Four, she&#8217;s the champion of styling her blazers. Take some inspiration from Hammon&#8217;s signature look, where she wears a zip-up hoodie under a blazer to bring an athletic twist to a professional piece. While this combination is a little unconventional, Hammon adds other details like a variety of cross necklaces or matching her team&#8217;s colors to really own her look. She eliminates the need for additional elements to her outfit, a symbolic reminder to stay focused on what matters the most.

<a href="https://www.instagram.com/aja22wilson">A&#8217;ja Wilson</a>
While no one is too surprised by A&#8217;ja Wilson being recognized as this year&#8217;s MVP, the post-win swag that Nike prepared was a jaw-dropper. With a bold slogan of &#8220;M&#8217;VPeriodt,&#8221; Nike&#8217;s designers nailed a simple T-shirt that perfectly captures Wilson&#8217;s personality throughout the season. The font on her shirt also matches the text printed on the side of the Las Vegas Aces&#8217; goggles, which read &#8220;What&#8217;s Won in Vegas, Stays in Vegas.&#8221; If anything, Wilson&#8217;s swag after this Championship game raises the bar for future MVPs and winners for future seasons.

The W in Designer '23: Flyest Fits of the Finals

<img decoding="async" loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-181407" src="https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2023/10/COVERIMAGE_-Recovered-6.png" alt="" width="1440" height="510" srcset="https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2023/10/COVERIMAGE_-Recovered-6.png 1440w, https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2023/10/COVERIMAGE_-Recovered-6-300x106.png 300w, https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2023/10/COVERIMAGE_-Recovered-6-1024x363.png 1024w, https://cdn.wnba.com/sites/4/2023/10/COVERIMAGE_-Recovered-6-768x272.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1440px) 100vw, 1440px" />
For the first time in over two decades, the WNBA has a repeat champion as the Las Vegas Aces won Game Four of the WNBA Finals presented by YouTube TV in dramatic fashion.
Down three starters, the Aces threw out the kitchen sink defensively, including a scheme they hadn’t run all season that Becky Hammon devised during practice between games. In many ways, that defines the Aces and the direction that they’ve spurred the WNBA towards; adaptability and versatility are paramount.
Las Vegas has shifted an unreal amount this season, starting with Candace Parker’s addition to the lineup, working through her addition, hitting one of the great regular season stretches in league history, and then having to rework themselves yet again after her injury mid-season. Relative to their play and expectations for themselves, they hit the mud in August, losing four of their six losses total on the season.
They then went on to have one of the greatest postseason runs in league history, finishing with the 5th highest net rating (+14) in a postseason run that lasted 5 games or more per Her Hoop Stats. A dominant month of basketball from the reigning champs to become the repeat champs: The Las Vegas Aces went 48 days without losing a game.
A’ja Wilson, the 2023 Finals MVP, put together a historic run to will the Aces to the title with a herculean 24-point 16 rebound Game 4, punctuated with some of the most clutch contested shots we’ve seen given the moment and intensity. None were bigger than Wilson’s fall-away jumper around the 1:30 mark of the fourth quarter.
<iframe loading="lazy" title="A&#039;ja WOW" width="500" height="281" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/FM0kkMWQ974?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe>
&nbsp;
Sitting in the lower bowl of Barclays Center, watching A’ja nail that shot live, there was an immediate sense of “the Aces have this game.”
The defense had been suffocating from them the past few quarters; they had the Liberty discombobulated on the offensive end with their ball pressure, and a 6-point margin felt insurmountable. That proved correct as the Aces were able to stifle an inbounds play from New York with just over 8 seconds remaining on the shot clock, scrambling and closing out across the court repeatedly as the Liberty struggled to get a shot up.
On the final play of the game, the Aces silenced a building at capacity, with nearly 18,000 fans all standing. People had leaked into standing room only from the bowels of the arena to watch the final minutes, to get closer to the greatness on the court.
It’s hard to describe how eerie and unreal that feeling was hearing the collective gusto jettison from the arena as the final buzzer sounded.
All I could feel and think about last night was that we were witnessing greatness. Greatness from a team. Greatness from individuals. The elevation of the game personified on the biggest stage.
Alysha Clark, filling in as a starter, played one of the finest defensive games I’ve ever seen, frankly. Jackie Young found her rhythm and altered the course of the game in the fourth quarter, scoring 9 points that felt like 30 given their impact. Kelsey Plum was pestering defensively, pressuring like mad, and willing her way to the line late in the game when the Aces needed to even the score. Vegas’ bench mob chipped in heavily, Cayla George letting it fly with confidence from deep, and Sydney Colson providing a stout defensive and frenetic impact.
At 27, A’ja Wilson keeps building on and expanding an elite resume, one of the all-time greats already.
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">She’s a 5x All-Star</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">4x All-WNBA</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">2x Defensive Player of the Year</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">2x Most Valuable Player</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">2x WNBA Champion</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">2023 Finals MVP</li>
</ul>
And all of that is without even mentioning her national team and collegiate accolades. Any player is more than the hardware they accumulate, but what Wilson has done in her six years in the league, leading the Aces to the Finals three times, is breathtaking.
It took time for the Aces to come together, the core group of Wilson, Young, and Plum all going through their own trials and tribulations as players and people to become three of the best players in the league. Las Vegas steadily built, retooled, added complimentary players and stars, and has worked its way into rare air after repeating.
While much can be projected about what’s on the horizon for the Aces and their bright future as a core, it’s imperative to stop in the moment, recognize what we just watched, and smile and laugh at just how damned impressive this group is and what they’ve accomplished collectively.

The <a href="https://www.actionnetwork.com/online-sports-betting/new-york">New York</a> Liberty host the Las Vegas Aces on Wednesday night at the Barclays Center, and hoo boy, a series that looked potentially dead in the water just a few days ago suddenly has mountains of intrigue.
Bettors here will likely know, but it’s worth leading with, the fact that Kiah Stokes, but much more notably Chelsea Gray, have both been ruled out for Game 4, with both players status for the series as a whole very much up in the air.
For an Aces team that rivaled any team in W history in terms of top tier talent, but also very definitively lacked in depth, this is harrowing news, and it means angles and options galore for bettors, so let’s not waste any more time.
Here&#8217;s how I&#8217;m betting the pivotal Aces vs. Liberty Game 4 matchup.

<hr />
<h3>Las Vegas Aces</h3>
The loss of Gray (and Stokes) is going to hurt on both ends, but any time a team loses their point guard, the offensive impact is bound to be extreme. And in Gray, they lose a point guard who had played each and every game this season, and led the team in minutes played, due in large part to this team not really even having a backup point guard for when they were blowing teams out.
The Aces will now likely turn to Kelsey Plum to initiate the offense, with Sydney Colson potentially coming off the bench for backup point guard minutes—though she has played only 20 minutes this entire postseason to date.
It looks as though, the Aces may turn to Alysha Clark (no surprise) and Cayla George (definitely a bit of a surprise) to replace Gray and Stokes in the starting lineup (remember, they are also still without Candace Parker until further word):
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-width="500" data-dnt="true">
Cayla George and Alysha Clark aren&#39;t wearing the grey pinnies usually worn by the bench players.
Presumably, AC plays the three, and Cayla George replaces Kiah Stokes at the five along with Jackie Young, A’ja Wilson and Kelsey Plum. <a href="https://t.co/0jqFDzpIka">pic.twitter.com/0jqFDzpIka</a>
&mdash; Jackie Powell (she/her) (@ClassicJpow) <a href="https://twitter.com/ClassicJpow/status/1714353232586150058?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">October 17, 2023</a></blockquote>
<script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
That would leave the Liberty likely doing something like:
Plum — Vandersloot
Young — Laney
Clark — Ionescu
George — Stewart
Wilson — Jones
In terms of matchups. That would allow Stewart to roam on defense, where she was a menace in Game 3. It also would make things difficult for Young who struggled to shake Laney all day Sunday.
As such, if the Aces are going to close out this series in New York, it really does appear that Wilson and Plum are going to have to go bonkers — Plum because of her potential matchup, and Wilson because she is the best player on the planet. As such, if bettors are looking to bet on the Aces, I don’t hate a same game <a href="https://www.actionnetwork.com/education/parlay">parlay</a> of a game script going something like:
Plum 20+ points
Wilson 25+ points
Wilson 10+ rebounds
Aces <a href="https://www.actionnetwork.com/education/moneyline">moneyline</a>
However, I personally am going to be on the Liberty sides of things from a straight <a href="https://www.actionnetwork.com/education/point-spread">spread</a>/moneyline perspective.
Part of that is because the Aces offense at home versus at Barclays just hasn’t been the same this season, and they were coming into Game 3 looking to regress potentially anyways, based on their crazy shooting numbers we talked about before Game 3. Because of that, I am going back to the well with a play Maria Marino cooked up for us on the Buckets podcast and hit for Game 3: Aces team <a href="https://www.actionnetwork.com/education/over-under-total">total</a> under.
The line is now at 82.5, but with the shooting regression that came, alongside Gray being out, I even like the alt under available for this line at <a href="https://www.actionnetwork.com/online-sports-betting/reviews/caesars-sportsbook">Caesars</a>: under 75.5 +222.
If things get out of control early, Becky Hammon may well pack things in and save her now Big Three for potentially having to play all 40 minutes in a home Game 5.
<hr />
<h3>New York Liberty</h3>
I came into this series with the Liberty as very slight favorites over the Aces on a neutral court. As such, I’d have made the Liberty -3.5 for the home games in the series. After Games 1 and 2 were decided in such pr0-Las Vegas fashion, however, I was a bit spooked, but watching Game 3, it’s clear Liberty -3.5 at home would have been a very fair line. Even before Chelsea Gray went down, the Liberty were leading, 69-61, in the fourth quarter, and had led most of what was a close game.
As such, if we work off of Liberty -3.5 as the baseline, Gray and Stokes being out — on a team with decidedly little depth — gets me to around Liberty -8. There is still a -4.5 in the market at <a href="https://www.actionnetwork.com/online-sports-betting/reviews/pointsbet">PointsBet</a>, but I also quite like the Liberty to win by double digits (around +200 most books), or even -14.5 +325 at <a href="https://www.actionnetwork.com/online-sports-betting/reviews/draftkings">DraftKings</a>.
As for which players to look at on the Liberty, it likely depends on if George is indeed getting the start. If so, I’d imagine something like this:
Sloot — George
Ionescu — Plum
Laney — Young
Stewart — Clark
Jones — Wilson
It actually isn’t a terrible defensive lineup for the Aces, as Sloot has simply not been able to punish the Aces for basically ignoring her all series. But it does put a ton of pressure of A’ja and Alysha to clean the glass, since part of starting George is to get her height, but if she is guarding Sloot (shout out to Calvin Wetzel for seeing this potential defensive lineup), she’s not going to be near the basket as much.
<hr />
<h3>Aces-Liberty Pick</h3>
This is such a fun game to preview because of all the different ways it could go. The Aces don’t have a confirmed starting five as of writing, but some snooping can lead us to assume George and Clark will be the two new additions.
With all that considered, the favorite play is Aces team total under 81.5, and the alt under 77.5 +222 at Caesars. I also like Liberty -14.5 +325 (we have talked about the snowballing effect between these two teams a lot and Wednesday feels primed for it more than ever).
I’m going to add Breanna Stewart over 10.5 rebounds here due to her likely matchup and her success on the boards the last few games. Finally, if the books give out Kelsey Plum assists, I would take over 5.5.
Pick: Aces Under 81.5 | Aces Under 77.5 | Liberty -14.5 | Breanna Stewart Over 10.5 Rebounds
